Join co-hosts Lisa Warshauer, EX'88 and Howard Zar, SB'61, SM'66 as they host Elisabeth Long, Associate University Librarian for Digital Services at UChicago.  She will share with us the history of the written word from clay tablets to iPads and the exciting ways the University of Chicago Library is reinvigorating physical collections through digital technologies.

Attendees will get a hands-on look at how the book format has changed over time and an overview of how one goes about digitizing historic materials. Demonstrations will show the power of digital technologies to unlock new knowledge and the importance of providing access to people across the globe. Attendees will also learn about the wide array of library collections that are available to them online, from University of Chicago Campus Publications such as the Cap & Gown or the Maroon, to medieval manuscripts, to posters from the Iranian revolution of 1979. If time permits we will have a behind-the-scenes tour of Regenstein.
